Tell us who you are and a little about your background
I was born in a small town in Sweden called Falun and move to Stockholm 12 years ago. I work as an actress and moved to Stockholm to get work. In the beginning, it was a bit rough. Coming from a small town to the big city and didn’t know anything about the business and industry I’m now working in. I only had my passion and that became my force and helped me to get where I am today. My first job as an actress when I moved to Stockholm was a part in a movie called Simple Simon. It became a huge success and after that my career developed into more projects. The movie had a beautiful message and it feels like it’s still as up to date today as when it was released.
When did you know that acting was what you wanted to do?
It started quite early, I was an outgoing girl, I loved to perform and sing, dance, make jokes and be the centre of attention. I told my father at the age of 6 that I wanted to be a singer and he said to me that I should become an actress instead. I asked him what it was and he told me that it’s someone that’s playing theatre, dance and also sings. So I said to myself; ok then, Actress it is!
And ever since then it’s been my goal and my vision.
How do you feel when you are in front of a camera?
It depends, but often I feel relaxed. I’m the kind of actress that is going back to the cameraman and director asking to have a look and see how it went. I’m not afraid to see myself on camera and evaluate what needs to be improved. I think I have some kind of directors mind in me and are open to eventually evolve into that in the future.
Is there any character you ever wish to play on screen?
I have a dream that someday I will play Greta Garbo in a movie. I think she has a secret that hasn’t been told yet. She was such a strong woman and so early in the film industry. She had something very special and loved to act. She was a brave woman who I admire so much. She dared to turn down roles to keep her integrity rather than seeing the money in it and there is something beautiful about that.
As an actress people judge you on your appearance and your performance. Have you ever felt that you’ve been misunderstood in the way people portray you?
Yes, I have! I’ve been playing a lot of comedian parts which I love but it’s also put me in a place where people often sees me as only a fun character. It wasn’t a choice to only do fun parts. I started off with dramas and the deeper side of me. But when it came out it was often so dark so it became funny instead. I started to get funny parts and people saw me as this character so I ended up with those roles. In that way, I feel that I’ve been misunderstood because I have so much more to show and I’m so much broader in my repertoire.
Moving on to deeper things, you are a spiritual person and so am I. That could mean different things to different people. In what way are you spiritual?
For me I don’t even think about it. It’s such a natural part of my life so it’s just there. I was born into it since my grandmother is also a very spiritual person. When we speak on the phone it’s not about the weather, it’s always about spiritual things. I believe in angels around you, I believe in chakras, crystals and being around the joy of these things as a happy source, a guidance in life.
What’s your next step? Any fun projects coming up?
The second season of a Television-series called Black widows is coming out in April. I’m one of the main characters. Then I have another secret project I can’t talk about yet. But stay tuned!
If you could give yourself an advice as a 20-year-old Cecilia, what would that be?
