What we do

We take dresses seriously. We design highly functional, impeccably cut dresses that transition seamlessly from day to night and from season to season. Consciously made to celebrate all body types, shapes and ages, we make sure there is a fit, length and silhouette for every woman. We pay the utmost of detail from fabric selection, draping and construction to ensure that the wearer will feel powerful, comfortable and confident in any Residus dress. Most of all, as women designing for ourselves and other women, we just want to make beautiful clothes that will become long lasting wardrobe essentials.

How we do it

Each Residus piece is made with closing the loop in mind. We source high-quality surplus fabrics from factories and other fashion labels directly, in order to maximize the life cycle of existing textiles, cut out harmful manufacturing processes and minimize our ecological footprint. Many of our dresses are only available in limited editions, based on the amount of surplus textiles available. That’s why we always produce a portion of each collection in new fabrics, but working only with GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified factories in Portugal who share our sustainability views and practices.

How we started

Founded by Elin Mohlander in May 2016 with a vision to make fashion more sustainable, she was soon joined by Evalena Jonsson, a longtime womenswear designer who shared the same desire to create high quality, purposeful garments that could withstand the test of quick-moving trends. With decades of experience in the fashion industry combined, they converged their genuine passion for circular fashion and sustainability to begin a fashion journey that will hopefully lead the industry into a more sustainable future. The inaugural collection dropped in April of 2017, consisting of a capsule collection of twenty feminine yet functional dresses.
